The Patriots took on Masconoment in a rematch of last year’s tightly contested playoff game that Masco won by one goal to end the
girl’s 2013 lacrosse season. This year the results were different as CC overwhelmed a very physical Masco team 17-10.

Emma Mahoney started the scoring just 30 seconds into the game with the first of her three goals on the day. Masco evened the score 2 minutes later before CC went on a 4 goal run highlighted by a crisp give and go from Sophie Shipe behind the net to Becca Olsen in front for the score. Masco called time out to slow the pace with CC up 5-1 just 7 minutes into the game and was able pull with-in 3 goals at the half but they could not solve Conley Ernst in goal. Ernst came up with 4 saves on 8 meter shots in the first half to maintain CC’s lead as CC withstood the most physical opponent they have faced this year.

CC reasserted their dominance in the second half scoring the first 5 goals to open up a 14-6 lead to put the game out of reach after just ten minutes. The teams traded goals over the remainder of
the game for the final 17-10 score.

The offense was led by Becca Olsen with a career single-game high 7 goals and Allie Barrett with 5 goals. Johannah O’Neil and Madeline Leahy continued their pressing defensive play with 2 caused turnovers each.

Coach Morrison said “The team was challenged by the fact that Masco knocked us out of the playoffs last year. We took control from the opening whistle, but Masco is a strong aggressive team a fought back. It was great to see our girls fight though a very physical game to secure the victory."

CC improved to 13-2 with the victory.
