The Concord Carlisle girls varsity lacrosse team (2-0) scored 10 goals in the first 10 minutes of play while holding visiting Cambridge Rindge & Latin (0-1) to just 1 goal in the first half as CC went on to a 17-3 victory at Doug White Field Thursday.

Lexi Goodhue, Madeline Leahy, Hannah Dudley & Cassidy Hale each provided 3 tallies for CC while Jenna Carlton, Catherine Gouchoe, Brianna Stout, Grace Andonian and Payton Vaughn added one apiece.

CC dominated the draw circle as Dudley, Leahy and Johanna O’Neil won 8 of 12 first half draw controls. Defensively, the Patriots took advantage of their team speed and continually frustrated the Falcons with back checking producing six caused turnovers. The Patriots collected 13 ground balls in the first half alone.

Cambridge Rindge & Latin was unable to sustain any pressure on the Patriot defense. The Falcons found themselves scoreless until the final two minutes of the first half. CC goalie Conley Ernst was unchallenged for most of the half and called upon to make just two saves.

Coach Morrison “"The team is in a good pattern of playing better each day they step on the field. The preseason was frustrating of not knowing when and where you might be practicing day to day, but the players have been resilient and have worked hard to come together as a team. Rindge & Latin played hard to the end, but we overmatched them with our experience and athleticism."

The Patriots return 8 starters from their 2014 team which posted a 17-3-1 record and went deep into the MIAA Division 1 playoffs before losing in overtime 12-11 to Franklin.

This year’s 2015 team is determined to push even further into the playoffs. With a strong core of returning experienced players and much added bench depth, it could prove to be the difference. But first they must play through power-house league rivals Acton Boxboro, Lincoln Sudbury, Westford Academy and Wayland and strong non league opponents Franklin, Algonquin & Masconomet.

The Patriots schedule resumes Wednesday when they take on Dual County Large opponent Acton Boxboro (3-0) in Acton.
