The CC Girls lacrosse team won their fifth straight game Thursday defeating Westford Academy 14-4.  Captain Jenna Carlton, Cassidy Hale and Hannah Dudley each contributed to the rout notching three goals apiece. The Patriots continue to be dominant in the draw circle winning 8 of 9 first half draw controls.  Captain Madeline Leahy captured five, followed by Hannah Dudley with four.  The Patriots began slow with several errant and missed passes while Westford capitalizes to take an early goal lead. But CC soon responded as Cassidy Hale zipped in two quick goals followed by Dudley, Captain Lexi Goodhue and Sophie Shipe. The Patriots pelted the Grey Ghost goalie in the first half with fifteen shots while the CC defenders showed their typical rugged brand of play as Brianna Stout, Audrey Hunt, Emily Muschlitz and freshmen Annie Wilson allowed Westford only 3 shooting opportunities on CC goalie Captain Conley Ernst.  CC led at intermission 8-2.

Westford gained some momentum early in the second half winning several draw controls and ball possession, however the Patriot defense remained poised continually frustrating the Grey Ghosts.  CC midfielder  Johanna O’Neil forced three of Westford’s five second half turnovers while Patriot Sophie Shipe collected four ground balls.

CC attack Grace Andonian recharged the Patriot offense notching their  first goal of the second half on a nice crease roll. That began a Patriot run as attacker Jenna Carlton along with midfielders Hannah Dudley and O’Neil all collected two more snipes apiece.

Coach Morrison “"Westford Academy is always a good challenge. The difference this year was our team lineup which is stacked with juniors and seniors. Defense lead the day holding WA to 2 goals a half, and pressuring them to nine forced turnovers, including a textbook check and pick up by Catherine Gouchoe. Our scoring continues to be balanced with seven different players getting on the board and three (Carlton, Dudley, and Hale) getting hat tricks."
