Concord defeated by Franklin

CC could not regain their early first half lead Thursday, losing to a skilled Franklin team 13-7. This year’s team remembers all too well losing a very close game in overtime to Franklin in the Division 1 East sectional finals two years ago. Last year it was CCs turn to beat Franklin in the regular season.

The rivalry continued this season as Abby Flynn opened with two saves of her fourteen for the half, letting Madeline Leahy and Hannah Dudley strike first for CC. For the rest of the half CC traded goals with Franklin, with a side-arm shot by Dudley and shots by Kylee Bowen and Payton Vaughn, who streaked up the field with a long pass from Sophie Shipe, keeping it close, ending the half trailing 7-5.

Amelia Slade minded the net for CC in the second half, stopping 7 of 13 shots. Joanna O’Neil continued to team with Dudley to win many draw controls and Bowen and Leahy netted their second goals.
